I’m a payments and financial infrastructure specialist with over 20 years’ experience designing, implementing, and integrating core payment rails for banks, non‑bank financial institutions, and corporates. My work has spanned domestic RTGS and instant payment schemes, cross‑border connectivity via SWIFT, cash management and purchase to pay, and, more recently, blockchain‑based and tokenised payment systems.
I became fascinated by blockchain technology in the early / mid 2010s, especially its potential for decentralisation and the new types of financial infrastructure it could enable.
Since then I’ve focused on blockchain, crypto assets, and distributed ledger technology (DLT), with a particular emphasis on how they intersect with existing financial market infrastructure. Over the past eight years I’ve worked on solutions covering:
- Building a new Cross‑border payments and settlement network
- Domestic payments for wholesale and retail digital currencies
- Worked with stablecoin issuers and also issued a USD stablecoin
- Developed data and messaging standards, including contributing to ISO 20022
Today, I work as an independent advisor and consultant at novamodus.xyz on digital currency, payments interoperability, and tokenisation projects. I help institutions bridge traditional payment infrastructure with emerging digital asset and DLT‑based models – with a focus on architecture, integration, and real‑world implementation rather than purely theoretical designs.
There are plenty of blogs that talk about high‑level concepts and “the future of finance” without explaining how things actually work. This blog is an extension of my work: a place to demystify technical and payments concepts, explain how systems actually function under the hood, and provide practical frameworks for navigating the evolving fintech and blockchain landscape. You won’t find trading tips or 30,000‑ft marketing soundbites here. Instead, we’ll pull back the covers and get into the details, define key principles, and bring together practical information to help you navigate this evolving landscape.
I hope you find it useful.
